Franny, a young fish born in the Grand Canyon, finds herself in the cold, clear water released from a major dam. In order to find her place in the river, Franny the flannelmouth sucker fish adventures throughout the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, learning how to survive in such a dynamic and exciting landscape. Along her journey, Franny learns how to swim over rapids, evade predators, and catch food from other organisms she meets.
This picture book, although fiction, is scientifically accurate and is hand-illustrated, with the intention of teaching elementary aged children and their adults about some of the little-known underwater inhabitants of the Grand Canyon.
